For more than 30 years, it is in the heart of the charming village of Coudray-Macouard, between Saumur and Montreuil-Bellay, that are born or revived in the hands of the artisans of the Atelier de la Girouetterie, all kinds of weathervanes and signs in copper, zinc and brass.
The workshop makes all types of models from an idea, a photo or even a drawing. The girouettier entirely fashions by hand these jewels that adorn today our roofs, bell towers, gardens and facade.
The Atelier de la Girouetterie welcomes visitors for free visits. Visit documents in French, English, German and Spanish are also available. The girouettier will be present in the workshop to exchange and share around its know-how.
We also carry out guided tours in which we will detail during this one the different stages of creating a weather vane and we will present its history through time.
In order to share our know-how with as many people as possible, we also organize educational workshops for children every Wednesday in July to help them discover all the secrets of making a weather vane. They make their own creations with the rain jacket from genuine manufacturing materials such as copper and zinc.
