Lute recital by Jean-Marie Poirier
Around the "Dit des trois morts et des trois vifs": Renaissance fantasies, songs and dances.
The wall paintings of the church of Auvers-le-Hamon were discovered between October 1902 and February 1903 by Abbé Emmanuel Toublet (also discoverer of the wall paintings of Poncé-sur-le-Loir). The main part is composed in particular of representations of holy healers who accompany a large representation of the "Dit des trois morts et des trois vifs" recounting the meeting in a cemetery of three young horsemen and three corpses. Dating from 1529-1544, it is the main element of the decoration of the nave of the church. The lute recital, given in front of the Dit, is intended to enhance the murals of Auvers-le-Hamon by evoking the musical context of their realization, to and to celebrate the 120th anniversary of their discovery by Abbé Toublet.
