Railway Museum of Petit Anjou
In Saint Jean de Linières, relive the time of Petit Anjou
Dive back into the early 20th century at the time of the departmental railway. And discover a restored historic train station where a train of the Petit Anjou consists of two magnificent passenger cars more than centenarians fully restored.
The members of the Association des Amis du Petit Anjou welcome you in 1900 costumes and you will learn all about the history of this tortillard that criss-crossed Anjou from 1893 to 1948. The volunteers will not fail to tell you of the crisp anecdotes that punctuated the life of this Angevin train where it was good to take its time.
You can also admire other restorations: a lorry, two freight cars and the railcar on which both young and old will enjoy a little ride.
The open workshop presents the restoration in progress: a De Dion Bouton railcar, a real bus on rail.
Let’s not forget the association’s project, which is just waiting for your support: from the Saint-Jean-de-linières station, create a metric line to Lake Maine, allowing the old restored equipment to circulate. It is, in fact, a question of building a tourist railway.
The La Roche train station is waiting for you, spaces are arranged for your picnic.
