More than 1000 years of history for this Romanesque church: flowering and animal capitals, nave in cradle, base of the massive bell tower whose original spire was for nearly 400 years the highest in Anjou... As last year, explanatory panels created with the help of the Service “Ville d'Art et d'histoire” of Saumur will highlight, with a few photos to support, the most remarkable points of the building, which was, it is said, the highest bell tower in Anjou for nearly 400 years. The stained glass windows and the monumental fresco are commented Some inaccessible or difficult to see elements are presented in photo-montages accessible by QRcodes

Already established in the 10th century, the church of Saint-Vincent de Vernoil-le-Fourrier astonishes by its very pure style. It owes this to its Romanesque parts, dating from the 11th and 12th centuries, uncommon in Anjou. Its voluminous bell tower, dating from the early 13th century, gives a glimpse of the grandeur of this building which was once one of the most imposing in Anjou. If you venture to the choir, you can admire three historic stained glass windows designed in 1883 by the illustrious master glassmakers of Angers Megnen, Clamens and Bordereau.
