Mineral and musical dialogue at the Château de Poncé
On September 17, 2022, during the heritage weekend, the Château de Poncé showcases contemporary art and music within an exceptional site.
The majestic Renaissance Castle is surrounded by remarkable gardens. The Caroline Terrace, neo-gothic construction, overlooks the Italian garden. In the castle, the visitor can admire a Renaissance staircase (1542) decorated with more than 130 caissons with sculptures all different, presenting vegetal, heraldic and mythological motifs. In the gardens, a magnificent dovecote also welcomes the public. It has a hundred "boulins" and a system of monumental scales.
In the outbuildings of the 18th century, the exhibition «Mineral Dialogue» highlights the artists Caribaï, Valérie Novello and Guy de Malherbe gathered around a common theme: the mineral that underlies their respective works. They question the permanence of things, such as a meditation on the long time, the hard that makes palpable what lasts. This mineral world, which offers a whole universe of layers and striations as signs of the writing of time, is a bottomless mine from which to extract infinite variations of forms.
At 6.30pm, a concert by Anna Graham will dialogue with the artists' works. Anna Graham, self-taught singer with Celtic origins, is what one could define as a sound painter. She composes her music like instrumental landscapes: A trip-hop frame dotted with ambient sounds, reggae influences and everyday sounds, these natural pigments so dear to her heart. Lulled by Breton culture and more broadly Celtic, as well as deeply attracted by the Sacred Arts, Anna Graham has developed a repertoire of Breton hymns and traditional songs performed guitar/voice to echo and pay tribute to her origins.
