Children can take advantage of a workshop of kaplas and wooden models to discover the architecture in Saint-Pierre Cathedral.

During a fun and educational workshop, the children, accompanied by their parents or an accompanying adult, will observe the place, learn the vocabulary related to the architecture of the cathedral with a paper support, then, will mobilize their perceptions and their knowledge to reproduce the plan of Saint-Pierre Cathedral with the wood modules of Kaplas.
The wooden model will be the opportunity to experiment the construction of a semicircular arch and then a vault of ogives: surprise! when you remove the hangers gently, it holds!

Saint-Pierre Cathedral was built in the 14th century, in 1364\. Redesigned in the following centuries, it was enlarged in the 19th century, at the level of the current transept and choir. It has a southern Gothic style. It is adjoining the Faculty of Medicine. Originally, it was the church of the monastery-college Saint-Benoît, occupied by the Benedictine monks. It became cathedral, seat of the bishop, in 1536\. Owned by the State, it has been classified as a Historic Monument since 1906 and has been under the responsibility of the Ministry of Fine Arts since 1912\. It is maintained and restored today by the services of the DRAC Occitanie. The parish is the affecttaire of the place.
