Visits and meals at the Villefavard mill
The presentation of the mill renovation project will take place at 11:00 and 14:30. A musical aperitif will be organized at 12:00 followed by a convivial meal.
South of Ménieux, a small road leads to the valley of the Semme, to the Moulin de Villefavard. The only isolated built-up entity on this portion of the valley on the right bank, it occupies a narrow flat of the valley bottom preceded by a moist meadow settled in a meander of the
river marking the southeastern boundary of the site.
Downstream, the dissymmetrical slopes tighten strongly favouring the appearance of cliffs. The south hillside, with its more pronounced relief, is entirely wooded, while there are still small layers of heather on the rocky outcrops of the north hillside, which is more open and covered with meadows downstream. The bed of the Semme, quite wide, is very quiet upstream of the mill.
When the valley tightens, its course, sometimes punctuated by wooded rocky islets, comes alive with a more lively current and a few rapids. It finally finds its tranquility thanks to the flaring of the banks, in the downstream part of the site.
Today this remarkable site is in full rehabilitation thanks to its two pationnés propiétaires that open their doors to us.
