Come and relax in our chapel of Saint-Mayme, nestled since the 11th century at the bottom of this small valley of the Peyronnette!

You will evolve in the middle of the vineyards where the grapes will be acquiring the famous «noble rot» which makes the glory of the wine of Monbazillac.
The concert at the chapel on Sunday is at 4pm. The La Boétie String Quartet is first and foremost an artistic and human adventure: that of four Bordeaux musicians gathered around a common passion, the string quartet, the highest but also the most demanding form of chamber music.
A new program very varied, easy to access, on the theme of dance, with works originally composed for string quartet. The classical period will be represented by the minuets of Haydn and Mozart, by the German dance of Beethoven. From the 20th century, we will hear the famous waltzes of Dvorak who, together with his contemporaries Liadov and Glazunov, will bring a touch of Slavic soul to the evening. A program that should seduce music lovers without frightening neophytes.

The church of Saint-Mayme, erected as a parish, is mentioned as early as 1117 on the diocese of Périgueux. It was for centuries under the civil and military authority of the jurisdiction of Moncuq, an important stronghold located a few hundred meters west of the chapel.
It was from this fortress that, in 1345, the English attacked Bergerac, which was the beginning of the Hundred Years' War in Guyenne. It was dismantled “to no longer serve” by Richelieu in 1628.
As for the chapel, restored in 1966 by the Association of the Friends of the Chapel of Saint-Mayme, which moreover continues this work, it has found its soul and will welcome you on the Way to Compostela and on the GR6.
