The Church of Saint-Benoist des Ombres, a rectangular building dominated to the east by a four-sided square bell tower, owes its existence to the Fondation du domaine Saint-Benoist, initiated in the 12th century by the Abbey of Saint-BenoistPierre de Préaux after a gift of land from the Rouen archbishop Jean d'Ivry. Originally composed of a nave with two bays and a choir with flat bedside, this place of worship has undergone many architectural changes, especially between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries, with the creation of an additional bay to the west, the construction of a caquetory and the establishment of a sacristy. Inscribed in the Inventory of Historical Monuments since 1974, the church of Saint-Benoist has been for many years a place of pilgrimage where, every March 21, several hundred faithful come to collect and to bless branches of yew and other medals...
