Discover the functioning of this defensive system as well as the history of its garrison, composed of 170 soldiers, in relation with the inhabitants of the village during nearly 3 years of occupation, until the D-Day.
During the stages that mark the audioguided tour, you discover at your own pace the battery and its history. You walk along a network of concrete trenches, more than 300 metres long, which allowed German soldiers to move without being seen and protected. - Audio guide in FR, GB, DE, IT, ES, NL, PT - Three levels of depth - Four child versions in FR, GB, DE and NL

The battery(drum kit) of Azeville is one of the first constructions of the Atlantic Wall in France. Having provided with four powerful blockhouses equipped with 105 mm standard(cannon) "Schneider", it covered coastal region manchois since the inside of lands. Azeville, Crisbecq (Saint-Marcouf) and Varreville established(constituted) the German batteries(drum kits) in charge of defending(forbidding) all sector. From night from 5 till 6 June, the battery(drum kit) of Azeville is taken to task by a group of parachutists fallen there by accident, then very early in the morning, it goes into action against the American disembarkation(unloading) of Utah Beach. She(It) delays then considerably the Allies which by-pass her(it). Finally, position falls June 9th after intense fights and rebounds: shootings(firings) on the battery(drum kit) of Crisbecq, bombardment by the battleship USS Nevada a blockhouse of which one of the shells crosses straight through without exploding, leaving behind him an impressive imprint always visible(obvious).
