Musée des Ivoires
8 Place du Maréchal Joffre, 76190 Yvetot, France
Seine-Maritime
Normandie
The second largest collection of ivories in Seine-Maritime: more than 200 ivory pieces from various geographical origins and periods ranging from the 16th to the 20th century. Great historical figures (Henri II, Marie de Médicis, Napoleon 1st...), reliquary statuettes, objects from daily life (jewelry, boxes, tobacco rasps...) are presented there, among others. Series of Chinese and Japanese characters as well as a collection representing Polletese fishermen (from the Pollet district to Dieppe). Terres cuites, some of which are signed by the sculptor Graillon, representing picturesque characters such as fishermen or beggars, but also historical scenes (the Last Supper, Voltaire). The series of tiles presents many dishes and plates from Rouen, Lille, Nevers, Moulins or even Saxe. Their recent restoration now allows their permanent exhibition to the public.
