Travel by train «Decauville»

The Chanteraines Railway is a narrow-gauge (60cm) network known as "Decauville" 5.5 km long. This railway is managed by an association type law of 1901 under trusteeship of the General Council. The price of tickets is fully invested in the maintenance and restoration of our equipment and is also used for the operation of trains. In addition to the operation, the association manages the maintenance and restoration of the rolling stock in a four-lane depot, including one over pit, equipped with various machine tools and gantry cranes of 5 and 2 tons. To date, there are 6 steam locomotives, three of which are listed in the additional inventory of the Historical Monuments, 15 diesel locotractors, 13 passenger cars, about twenty wagons Péchot and Decauville of 1914, as well as various service cars and freight that make up the rolling stock. Four steam locomotives are currently in service and two more will follow as repairs are made. On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the Chanteraines Railway will put into circulation several passenger and freight trains composed of historical material. In addition to the online traffic at the reduced rate, the Chemin des Chanteraines offers a free part of its route between the station of La Ferme and the depot. These exceptional circulations will also allow you to visit the railway depot and enjoy the animations that will be organized for the occasion.
