Travel by train «Decauville»

The Chanteraines Railway is a narrow-gauge (60cm) network known as "Decauville" 5.5 km long. This railway is managed by an association type law of 1901 under trusteeship of the General Council. The price of tickets is fully invested in the maintenance and restoration of our equipment and is also used for the operation of trains. In addition to the operation, the association manages the maintenance and restoration of the rolling stock in a four-lane depot, including one over pit, equipped with various machine tools and gantry cranes of 5 and 2 tons. To date, there are 6 steam locomotives, three of which are listed in the additional inventory of the Historical Monuments, 15 diesel locotractors, 13 passenger cars, about twenty wagons Péchot and Decauville of 1914, as well as various service cars and freight that make up the rolling stock. Four steam locomotives are currently in service and two more will follow as repairs are made. On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the Chanteraines Railway will put into circulation several passenger and freight trains composed of historical material. In addition to the online traffic at the reduced rate, the Chemin des Chanteraines offers a free part of its route between the station of La Ferme and the depot. These exceptional circulations will also allow you to visit the railway depot and enjoy the animations that will be organized for the occasion. Trains run from 14:00 to 18:30, but you can come to the depot in the morning at 10:00 to help prepare the locomotives. Last minute details on the C.F.C.’s Internet page.

In the early 1970s, the creation of a departmental park was decided by the Conseil Général des Hauts-de-Seine. Located in the municipalities of Villeneuve-la-Garenne and Gennevilliers, the Chanteraines Park (the second largest in the department) covers 80 hectares. To serve the different parts of the park, a 0.60 m track railway line was built in 1981 from the "Pont d'Epinay" (today "Les Mariniers") to the "Passage de Verdure" located above the A 86 motorway or a distance of 3,1 km. When the fourth section of the park was opened in July 1991, the line was extended from the "Passage de Verdure" to the "Gare de Gennevilliers" on the RER C line. This now represents a total of 5.5 km, including 1 km of sidings and garage. On the occasion of this extension a second repository was created next to the first. Since 1984 an association has been set up to deal with the operation, management, maintenance and construction of rolling stock. Heritage Days provide an exceptional opportunity to see se
