The Palace was built between the 1860s and 1865 by the architect Antoine-Nicolas Bailly (1810-1892). The construction is part of the overall plan for the redevelopment of Paris, designed by Napoleon III and the Prefect of the Seine, Baron Haussmann. The architect was obliged to meet the requirements of Prefect Haussmann and Napoleon III himself. Work began in 1859 and was completed in 1864\. The decoration of the Palace has an allegorical character, as often in the nineteenth century: the visit will allow to discover the remarkable architectural and decorative elements as well as the works of art present on the place.
