Free visit of the Hotel de Brienne - Office of the Minister of Armed Forces
Built in 1725 for Madame de Prie, mistress of the Duke of Bourbon, then residence of the Princess of Conti and Laetizia Bonaparte, mother of the Emperor, all three have carried out major works that give the hotel of Brienne prestige, elegance and, it is said, the most beautiful garden of the Republic. A key place in our military and political history, the Brienne hotel has been the seat of the Armed Forces since 1817. It was in these walls that Clemenceau organized the victory in 1917 and that Charles de Gaulle settled in 1944, once France was liberated. Their offices are being redeveloped identically on the first floor while on the ground floor the offices of the minister and his advisors still bear the traces of our history and welcome those who write a new page of it
