Guided tour of the town hall of Garches
City of Garches: European Heritage Days: “If City Hall was told to us…” on Saturday 17 September 2022
On the occasion of the 39th edition of the European Heritage Days, the Municipality organizes, on Saturday, September 17, 3 guided tours of the city hall from 9am to 12pm to allow the Garchois to discover its history and architecture with the family, with exciting anecdotes in hand.
During this one-hour itinerary, punctuated by surprise animations for young and old, Sophie Rechsteiner, municipal councillor responsible for Heritage, architect and painter, will retrace the glorious past of the town hall, former Civiale castle, old photos and postcards in support, it will also be an opportunity to mention the extension of the town hall created in 1987 but also its emblematic decorations including the chandelier of the reception hall and the tapestry of the room of the City Council.
Beyond architecture and history, this meeting, both playful and educational, will include a focus on citizenship with a visit to the City Council Hall and the Wedding Hall, specially designed for the occasion, but also the office of Jeanne Bécart, Mayor of Garches.
Finally, the City Archivist will present the most valuable documents of the Archives Service, including parish registers dating from the 17th century.
