One of the oldest in the Yvelines department, the Mantes-la-Jolie archives tell the history of the city since its creation in the 12th century. From medieval manuscripts to photos of the 1944 bombings, the visit will trace the Mantis past through remarkable pieces preserved in the archives, while discovering the profession of archivist.

The Municipal Archives of Mantes-la-Jolie keep documents dating back to the 12th century. They collect, classify, preserve and communicate to the public funds entrusted to them by the municipal government, individuals, associations or businesses with a connection to the city. Many documents from collections of all kinds are kept, such as parish registers, registers of civil status, plans, engravings, but also posters, old periodicals, photographs, etc.
