Visit of the City Hall of Paris
On the occasion of the 39th edition of the Journées Européennes du Patrimoine, the Hôtel de Paris opens its doors!
Visitors will be able to discover the office of the Mayor of Paris, the library of the City Hall, the Council Room, the ceremonial salons and the Paris Rendez-Vous boutique.
The Parisian heritage will be at the heart of this visit. Also, an exhibition will present the major restoration projects currently being carried out by the City of Paris on its heritage buildings and the public will be able to meet curators, restorers, historians and archaeologists of the City present to discuss their remarkable trades and missions. Stonemasons, roofers, restorers of stained glass, painting or photographs will offer demonstrations to better understand these unique trades. By their side, visitors will also be able to discover the many skills of the artisans of the Hôtel de Ville: florists, locksmiths, upholsterers, watchmakers, parqueteurs, chandeliers, etc. An exhibition entitled «History of the City Hall, from origins to reconstruction» will trace the history of this exceptional building and the public will appreciate the staging of an official reception in the ceremonial salons.
For this edition, the City of Paris will present in an unprecedented way archives extracted from rare collections preserved by its heritage and specialized libraries.
Finally, the exhibition «Les artisans du Label Fabriqué à Paris» will reveal the diversity and richness of Parisian production. Paris being the City Godmother, the model of the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier will also be on display.
This year, the visit route will benefit from mediators from the Louvre school in the salons to comment on the decorations and paintings. A reception facility for visitors with disabilities will also be in place with personalised support and/or a ready chair, in conjunction with the volunteers trained by the Action Passe association.
