A wooded square was built here at the end of the 19th century in order to stage the newly built Palace of Justice. Its current design probably dates from the late twenties and would therefore be contemporary with the Great War Memorial. The Hôtel des Postes, designed in 1937 by architect Joseph Bukiet, is a perfect example of the Art Deco style.
