Every year, the Paris Military School welcomes an average of 10,000 visitors to the JEP. Today, you can discover this historic site of 12 hectares alone or in a group, accompanied by a guide-lecturer.
You can also visit for yourself, at your own pace, by downloading short videos on YouTube®.

Louis XV, at the instigation of the Paris brothers and Madame de Pompadour, set his sights on the plain of Grenelle, a former Garenne, which was part of the Sainte-Geneviève abbey and part of the Hôtel des Invalides in order to create a military school. Ange-Jacques Gabriel was chosen to design and ensure the construction of the buildings. In 1773, the work was completed. The royal courtyard is framed by porticoes with Doric columns on the ground floor and Ionic upstairs. The central body or castle dominates it without ostentation, decorated with colossal Corinthian columns and surmounted by a quadrangular dome. In 1780, the architect Gabriel being 82 years old, the architect Boullée, then the architect Théodore Brongniart who completes the work and finishes in particular the side pavilions of the castle. In 1787, the school was definitively closed. Its premises were assigned to the Hôtel-Dieu. The Revolution first established a flour depot and hand mills there, and in August 1792 the
