"The imaginary patient is not a play for today’s audience. Mr Antoine knows it. This old theater teacher is himself a hypochondriac who treats his fictitious diseases with drugs. Mr Antoine loves Molière so much that he has the idea of writing a current play, intended for young people. He decides to have his play performed by a former student of his theatre class. The young people will then go back to Molière through the small door and perhaps even through the window". This play encourages spectators to experience the modernity of the "imaginary sick" and to see how it concerns them today.
