Walking in the City - «In the footsteps of Georges Méliès»
If you were told that cinema was born in Montreuil? This is partly true because it is here that Georges Méliès, inventor of special effects and pioneer of fiction in cinema, created the world’s first film studio and directed more than 500 films. We will rediscover the city with him, from the cinema «Le Méliès» to the location of its studios now disappeared, while paying tribute to other figures of Montrealer cinema such as Emile Reynaud, the inventor of the cartoon, and the directors of Studios Pathé-Albatros. Finally, we will see that Montreuil is still a land of filming with many films of today: The First Day of the rest of your life, The Anonymous Emotives, L'Effet aquatique, Lupin, etc. This dive into the origins of cinema will of course be illustrated by photos and extracts on tablet.
