Manifesto XXI ROUND TABLE
Faced with gentrification, what alternatives for feminist queer spaces? In an urbanization that causes spontaneous, self-organized breathing spaces to curl up, a multitude of initiatives are aimed at opening up space to the forgotten margins of urban planning. Whether they open places or reclaim the streets and walls, women and gender minorities are inventing a new way of living. The third-places and fablabs propose to reclaim the tools of the cultural and social link, in a spirit DIY (Do It Yourself: do it yourself) and sometimes libertarian; the prides and collages upset patriarchal urbanization. Come and get inspired!
Manifesto XXI is a feminist queer culture magazine. The media values artists and journalists who embody the world as it is, in all its complexity, when we think outside the box. Manifesto is interested in alternative artistic scenes with the desire to support works with strong discourse, carriers of social and cultural change, capable of rethinking norms. The editorial team is based in Paris and Marseille.
Contemporary DISCUSSIONS
For Nuit des Regards, Contemporaines presents a sensitive preliminary study on the place of photographers identifying themselves as women, non-binary and transgender in public commissions in France. Starting from the observation that women photographers represent about 40% of the winners of the public commission «Regards du Grand Paris», and this despite the number of women photographers graduated from art schools in France each year, which amounts to more than 60%, the project led by Contemporaines examines in a non-exhaustive way the inequalities of gender in the photographic public order. Based on figures, archives and conversations, this preliminary study will be returned to the General Stores on 16 September as well as in the form of a publication sold for the benefit of the association to support its actions.
Contemporaines, association of law 1901, is committed to gender equality in contemporary art. She strives to offer the same opportunities, better representation and equivalent remuneration for contemporary artists in a caring setting. Founded in 2019 by Anne Bourrassé and Sonia Ye, Contemporaines brings together forty volunteers between Paris and Marseille, who work for a fairer artistic landscape, more representative of our society.
Love your breed PODCAST RECORDING
During a live recording at the Magasins généraux, various themes are discussed at the Kiffe ta Race podcast through the prism of the exhibition Regards du Grand Paris; the benefits and harms of the shots in the representation; the traces, visible or erased, of colonial history in the public space; communities chosen, communities suffered?
Why is the word “race” taboo? How can we assume our plural identity? How does colonial history impact our daily lives even today? Hosted by Rokhaya Diallo and Grace Ly, the podcast Kiffe ta race sees the colours: it explores racial issues without taboo. Every other Tuesday, the two hosts receive a guest to explore her expertise and experiences on all the issues that affect the daily lives of Asians, Blacks, Arabs, Jews, Roma, and even Whites in France today. An assumed treatment of diversity as a societal and individual issue in conversations with a friendly, personal and committed tone.
Kourtrajmeuf INSTALLATION & PERFORMANCE
Who are we really? How do others perceive us? Who would I want to be in front of this world? A photograph in lenticular printing, representing two portraits, a reality and a dream imagination, which invites the spectators ice to move and perhaps change their point of view. Dreaming about reality is a project that confronts the different views that we have on each other, and to begin with, Kourtrajmeuf decided to confront themselves as a collective to these questions, and then, with other artists, create a series of portraits.
Kourtrajmeuf is a collective of directors, photographers and multidisciplinary artists who met at the Kourtrajmé film school in Clichy/ Montfermeil in 2019. The eclectic collective unites in the realization of different projects, transversal to the artistic or commercial fields.
Seumboy Vrainom:€ PERFORMANCE
Artist Seumboy Vrainom:€ offers a performance lecture on the theme of the gaze located. We are the Grand Paris? Who speaks, why? How do we live in a space in full transformation?
Seumboy Vrainom:€ is an Hors-Sol activist. Heir to French colonial history, he grew up in the Lute, a Parisian city, on the 13th floor of a tower, floating in the virtual. Faced with a difficulty in reclaiming the earth, he naturally plunged into digital space. Tense between the technological singularity and the collapse of the thermo-industrial society, he militates for a decolonial ecology. Since April 2020, Seumboy has launched the Histoires Crépues channel, which allows her to campaign through the digital space. He presents himself as an heir to French colonial history who seeks to make this history accessible.
