About the location

Allée couverte des Déserts
68 rue des Déserts 95100 Argenteuil
  • Val-d'Oise
  • Île-de-France
The covered path of the Deserts (-3500 to -2300 BC) is a collective burial of the civilization "Seine-Oise-Marne" dating from the recent Neolithic. Excavated from its discovery in 1867 on the Vachon hill, the covered alley attests to the sedentarization and socialization of populations. Constituting the oldest existing trace of human settlement in Argenteuil, it is classified as a Historical Monument since 1943.
