Night tour, in the heart of Senlis' royal past
The Pays d'Art et d'Histoire service offers an original tour of the remains of the royal castle and the Saint-Maurice priory by night in the light of torches! The royal castle is a real link between the ancient and medieval periods in Senlis. In 987, Hugues Capet was elected King of the Franks in the courtyard of the castle then the site was deeply redesigned in the 12th century. It is the oldest residence of the kings of Capetian France still in elevation. After having created a panorama of the history of the site through these different spaces we propose you to visit the priory founded in the 13th century by Saint-Louis to house the relics of Saint-Maurice. We will also take you to the former cellar of the priory located under the current museum of the Veneer. Come discover differently this major site of the Senlisien heritage!
