Beyond the only lazy and meticulous detective, other characters have taken shape under the pen of the author, such as Professor Challenger, the exuberant curator in comparative anthropology of the British Museum. A prolific writer, Conan Doyle develops the novel of adventures, and in particular perfects the police genre. He is also the author of science fiction books, plays, poems and historical works.
