Built on a rocky spur that dominates the village, near the castle now destroyed, the church is located in the «Quartier de la Montagne», which is the historic heart of the city. The church is one of the most interesting in the Pas-de-Calais; it is one of the masterpieces of flamboyant art in Artois. Its vaults are a very representative example of the flamboyant Picardo-Artesian churches. The coats of arms that adorn the sculptures are there to remind us that this sumptuousness is due to the generosity of the lords who affirm their faith and power.
