The Galant Green Fort is one of the last remains of the forts of General Séré de Rivières called «single-crested» built after the war of 1870. It was built to protect Lille from a possible new Prussian invasion and its German allies. A century-old history, marked by the immediate obsolescence of this type of building, but also and especially the blood of the people who were executed there during the Second World War
