Guided tour of the Bailiwick of Aire-sur-la-Lys
Strolling through the historic heart of Aire-sur-la-Lys, you will quickly look at a small building in the southeast of the Grand Place: “Le Bailliage”. If it illuminates with its splendour, however, it seems difficult to discern. According to some, his name would refer to "Bailli": an officer appointed by the Count of Flanders to render justice. Yet the friezes surrounding the building reveal many weapons: halberds, shields, helmets: strange; this does not seem to correspond to the information. Behind its arcades and its style: "Flemish Renaissance" this building therefore contains many mysteries, and much of the past time. Dare you pass through its doors. All its secrets will be revealed to you!
