Roubaix is often called the French Manchester. This comparison raises the question of the relationship between Roubaix, a large textile city, and the imposing neighbour on the other side of the Channel. "Roubaix textile in English time. Mode, motifs and teaching, 1840-1968", a conference led by Gilles Maury, architect, doctor in history of architecture and president of the Société d'Emulation de Roubaix.
