Built after 1712, the Hotel d'Aoust served as a winter residence for the Aoust family who owned the castle and the lands of Cuincy. The Aousts belonged to a wealthy Douaisian family, originally from Normandy, who arrived in the city around 1475 as a result of a double marriage, when the two brothers Jacques and Eustache d'Aoust married the two sisters Audefroy, Catherine and Madeleine, living in Douai. After the Revolution, the Hotel had multiple owners. It was occupied by the Germans during the 1914-1918 war. It was acquired in 1946 by the Charbonnages de France and became the headquarters of the HBNPC. In 1947, it was added to the Historical Monuments Inventory. Acquired by the City Hall of Douai, which restored it before ceding it to the Council of State which installed there the Administrative Court of Appeal.
