CONCERT "1930, DANCING ON A ROPE"

The Libertalia Ensemble invites you to the City Hall to close this 39th edition of the Heritage Days around the theme "Sustainable Heritage".
Domingo 18 septiembre 2022, 18:00Passed
Ensemble Libertalia

Bringing the musical heritage of the 1920s and 1930s to life is the goal of the string instrumentalists who will be waiting for you on the stage of the Grand Carré de l'Hôtel de Ville.
Indeed, music has this extraordinary power to restore a heritage memory by giving it a new life, a new pulsation, by reincarnating it in the present.
Apart from the sequel to Grieg who opened the program, chosen because it is a masterpiece of achievement in this renewal of the old style, the pieces of this program, where dance is omnipresent, were composed around the same years of construction of the town hall of Lille.
The excellent musicians of Libertalia will highlight the specific identity of Lille: its cross-border character open to the peoples of Europe, its attachment to a rich heritage, its festive spirit, and its exceptional ability to reinvent this heritage to go towards modernity.
The entrance will be on the Porte de Paris side, via the Place Roger Salengro.

The most remarkable work of the architect Emile Dubuisson, the town hall was built in 1924 and completed in 1932 by the construction of the belfry. It was a key milestone in the city’s new development, beautification and expansion plan in 1921.
During the weekend of Heritage Days, the Municipal Archives Department will be present in the Grand Gallery to show you a selection of original documents dedicated to the construction and development of this landmark building from the 1920s to the 1930s.
