Discover a permanent exhibition on the heritage of Sedan and a temporary exhibition on the battle of 1870.

Until November 6, 2022, the Maison du Patrimoine will host the temporary exhibition: «Sedan 1870-1873: the battle, the occupation, the memories». Produced by the Municipal Museum, this exhibition presents the history of Sedan during the Franco-German War of 1870-71 and its consequences on the city. It traces the events of the war of 1870-71, the battle of September 1, the occupation of German troops until July 24, 1873, the memories of the battle and the monuments, the destruction of the fortifications and the deployment of the “new city” the following decade.
Manuscripts, plans, photographs, prints, objects and works from the Sedan heritage collections (municipal museum, municipal archives, Société d'Histoire et d'Archéologie du Sedanais, Georges-Delaw media library) reflect this defining period in our national and local history.

These former bathhouses, built from 1913 to 1921, were transformed into the Maison des Syndicats in the early 1980s. Damaged by a disaster in 2010, the building was restored, equipped with a new extension to install a Centre of Interpretation of Architecture and Heritage (CIAP).
The Heritage House is a Centre of Interpretation of Architecture and Heritage: a place that presents Sedan in its urban, historical and architectural dimension.
This equipment aims to give residents and tourists the keys to understanding the heritage of the city of Sedan. It includes a permanent exhibition and a temporary exhibition room. There are signs, but also videos, models, materials, and elements to handle.
