This symbolic building of the Republic where court decisions are handed down every day opens its doors for a visit.

The Courthouse of Saverne, former criminal court and chamber of episcopal accounts of the eighteenth century, opens its doors to you for a visit of this symbolic building: courtroom where lawyers plead, office «ovale» the President, the Office of the Prosecutor where decisions on investigations are made, the office of the clerks who draft the judgments, a room of lost steps where litigants wait.
Come discover this place and immerse yourself in the skin of a forensic expert around a crime scene in the presence of the Gendarmerie. This investigative animation will invite you to pick up clues, search the crime scene and understand the work of investigators.
Visit inscribed in a thematic circuit The heritage of the Republic to be completed by the visit of the town hall and the Courthouse of Saverne.

Former episcopal chancellery built in 1738 by the bishop of Strasbourg Armand Gaston de Rohan on the city wall. It was designed to house the criminal court and the accounting chamber. After the Revolution the building is the seat of the Haguenau district court and since 1800, of the district court. The cellars of the wing housed the prison and the first floor the archives. This first building was completed in 1899 by the construction of a district court built in the same style as the old chancery of 1738.
