About the location

Quartier Européen
Palais de l'Europe, avenue de l'Europe, 67000 Strasbourg
  • Bas-Rhin
  • Grand Est
The remarkable buildings of the European quarter include the jewels of the history of European construction and pay tribute to the identities that guided it. These personalities have given their names to many streets of the neighborhood: Ernest Bevin, Jean Monnet, Robert Schuman, Louise Weiss...
Bringing together forty-seven countries (almost all the countries of the European continent) and representing more than 800 million citizens, the Council of Europe, established in Strasbourg since its foundation in 1949, needed a seat to its measure.
The first "house of Europe" was only a temporary building and the construction of a real palace of Europe, in 1977, marked the start of the foundation of a vast district dedicated to Europe and international relations, on the edge of the large park of the Orangerie.
