A part(party) of buildings(ships) and of main courtyard were built in the XVIIIth century s. to serve to the Treasurers of champagne(Champagne). June 22nd, 1791, upon the return to Varennes, Louis XVI and the royal family spent there at night before getting back to Paris. The first Préfet de la Marne, middle-class person de Jessaint held his position from 1800 till 1838.
