Inside the newly refurbished structure with a long honeycomb table, lights and seats reflecting the codes of the emblematic architecture of the Centre Pompidou-Metz, visitors are invited to seize and divert the material at their disposal to build a large city that will gradually occupy the entire space.
This workshop will take place in the PTS, the museum’s architectural laboratory during its creation, a space open to all, where everyone can take part in the elaboration of a common work: an ideal city made of recyclable cardboard.
The spirit of the proposal refers to the practice of Shigeru Ban which relies on innovative structures made of paper or cardboard tubes through which he creates prefabricated temporary habitats, to respond to emergency situations of populations deprived of housing following disasters, as recently in Ukraine.

The Centre Pomidou-Metz is designed as a unique experience, a space for discovering artistic creation in all its forms, a place of life where events take place all year round. It is an exceptional place, thanks to the architecture of Shigeru Ban and Jean de Gastines; generous, because the public are at the heart of the project; of excellence, through multidisciplinary programming based on innovative and international temporary exhibitions designed and realized in Metz.
