From the thirteenth century, the fortress knew many new masters. Nicolas de Haraucourt acquired it in 1553\. Elisée de Haraucourt, its owner at the beginning of the seventeenth century, entered into a contract with Nicolas Mathieu, master mason at Méréville, for the wall of the farmyard, and in 1617 with Demenge Fondeur, carpenter at Méréville, to establish a fountain in the same courtyard. Much more important works were to be entrusted in 1619 to the architect Jean la Hiere, who dealt with Pierre Grégoire, Mansuy Panottin and Jacob Fériot, master stonemasons at Nancy, for crusaders, semi-crusaders, binoculars with the round tower, doors, chimneys, markets and the ceilings of the staircase, the windows of the stable and others to the gallery above the stable.
