Come and discover an exhibition retracing the history of the Aéropostale and that of the pilots who contributed to its development.

After the First World War, Alsace contributed to the development of Aéropostale through its pilots who were among the best: Daurat, Hamm, Doerflinger, Hodapp, Enderlin, etc.
Discover the story of these distinguished airmen who, in order to send the mail, cleared the line of the Aéropostale, leaving from Toulouse, through Spain and Africa and finally from 1930 carry the mail across the Atlantic to South America, at the risk of their lives!

France was the first country to have a telecommunications network by 1794, thanks to the aerial telegraph invented by Claude Chappe. From 1798 to 1852, the Saverne station was one of the links between Paris and Strasbourg. The Tower of the former telegraph Chappe allows to discover the functioning of the aerial telegraphy and the impact it may have on the imagination of its contemporaries. Located initially within the walls of the Château du Haut-Barr, next to the «Pont du Diable», the risk of accidents being too great, the station will be moved, during 1810, from the rocky spur where it culminated at 481 meters, and rebuilt below, towards the present place, more conducive.
