The idea of a library and then a media library is not new for the municipality of Vendeuvre-sur-Barse since the city council in 1937 has, on two occasions deliberated on the subject. 23 January 1937 on the institution of a communal library for adults within the boys' school and 30 October 1937 for the «creation of a communal popular library» in the premises of the town hall to allow “all the inhabitants of the commune to obtain, according to their faculties, books useful for their instruction and relaxation”. Moving in 1985 to the old bathhouses of the commune, the municipal library closed its doors in July 2018 to give birth to the media library, in new premises rue du Pont Chevalier, in September 2018\.
The building that houses the media library is a former barn called Cornotte which was bought in May 1979 by the municipality of Vendeuvre-sur-Barse to install its municipal technical services. It was then sold to CARB Services which for a few years opened a gardening business. The mun
