The Social Union, Centre for the Study and Conservation of Museums, is located in an industrial building that bears witness to the logistical activity of the former COOP site.
Restructured by the agency Alexandre Chemetoff under the leadership of the SPL des Deux-Rives, this new equipment offers 8,300 m² of space dedicated to the management of the Museums' heritage.
It is home to storerooms spread over five levels rendered blind to questions of conservation of collections and museum activities related to collections and their dissemination. Twenty agents work there daily in workshops and specialized spaces (management, catering, supervision, documentation, carpentry, metallery, etc.).
The specific functions of the building and the professions exercised by heritage professionals are the subject of an assertive mediation. It is embodied on the South and West facades where a series of windows run:
