In the Middle Ages, Thibault de Champagne (935), count of Blois, was at the origin of the first dungeon built on a mound. Around 1140, Ginon de Mehun built a castle. In 1212, still in the Middle Ages, Robert de Courtenay, prince of the house of France raised the castle from its ruins. Until the seventeenth century, illustrious families succeeded each other. In 1810, the Marquis de Bartillat carried out numerous transformations. In 1813 the Black Band destroyed part of the castle. In 1880, the Moulinet D'Hardemare family undertook major restoration work. Abandoned and outraged for 10 years, the castle is since early 2012, the private property of ardent defenders of our heritage.
