Always in a desire to rehabilitate the least loved species and to sensitize its visitors, the Museum of Tours offers a new exhibition on spiders. Terrifying, fast, hairy, aggressive… These are usually the first words that come to mind when we think of spiders.
Like snakes, spiders are unloved animals. Their simple sight causes most of the time fear, and can even cause a terrible phobia. And yet they are very useful and contribute to the richness of our biodiversity.
Intended for the general public, this exhibition aims to restore the truth about our eight-legged roommates. Explanatory panels, many interactive manipulations, as well as twenty terrariums will allow you to better know the spiders.

In 1940, the Natural History Museum of Tours, which was created at the end of the 18th century, was completely destroyed by the bombing of buildings and collections. In the 1980s, the City of Tours decided to acquire a house of character located in the old Towers, the former presidium of the city, offering 1000 m2 distributed over four levels, to install its new museum. The first exhibition was opened to the public at the end of 1989\. In 2003, this municipal establishment was labeled Musée de France by the Ministry of Culture. The museum was designed around the theme of water, evoked thanks to the colors (declination of greens and blues) and the shapes of the furniture.
