François Lafite, Ville de Tours

Located on the second floor, the permanent exhibition is devoted to natural history collections.
Many naturalized animals are presented, from arthropods to mammals. The animals are arranged according to the phylogenetic classification to allow the younger ones to recognize the larger families and species.
This exhibition also highlights the natural history of Touraine, with the presentation of rocks, fossils and stratigraphies from the region.
The most nostalgic Tourangeaux will be able to find the former star of the Botanical Garden: Bobby the seal.
Also present are other celebrities of the Botanical Garden of Tours, the bears Willy and Sophie.

In 1940, the Natural History Museum of Tours, which was created at the end of the 18th century, was completely destroyed by the bombing of buildings and collections. In the 1980s, the City of Tours decided to acquire a house of character located in the old Towers, the former presidium of the city, offering 1000 m2 distributed over four levels, to install its new museum. The first exhibition was opened to the public at the end of 1989\. In 2003, this municipal establishment was labeled Musée de France by the Ministry of Culture. The museum was designed around the theme of water, evoked thanks to the colors (declination of greens and blues) and the shapes of the furniture.
