A reference cathedral. In the thirteenth century, the Cathedral of Chartres inaugurates the series of «classical» cathedrals with high windows. The quality of the carved decoration makes it one of the references of Gothic art. Its classification by UNESCO results from the exceptional harmony that reigns between architecture, sculpture and stained glass, celebrated by Péguy and Claudel.
