On the Guermantes side, the church of Saint-Chéron de Marchéville with its imposing mass could not escape the gaze of the young Marcel Proust while walking in the vicinity of Illiers-Combray. Simple and harmonious, this building of the XV-XVIe centuries after an entrance by a bell tower porch reveals a magnificent vault paneled dating from 1536 with floral motifs dotted with doves. It houses an oil on canvas dating from 1687\. This classified painting represents in a triptych the annunciation surrounded by St Barbara and St Lubin. Another painting, a gift from Emperor Napoleon III, depicts the adoration of the Magi by Rubens. To admire in the choir stained glass classified with fragments of the sixteenth century.
