The dolmen of La Grotte aux Fées would have been erected in the Neolithic period (between 5000 and 2500 B.C.). Its name comes from a legend that lends to female creatures the construction of this building in one night. This megalith weighing more than 88 tons, composed of 3 tables resting on 8 supports and measuring 11m long, forms the most important megalithic monument of Touraine. The Dolmen de la Grotte aux Fées has been a Historic Monument since April 18, 1914\. The site of the Fairy Cave was inscribed by decree in 1943.
