In the 19th century, the small chapel of the Capuchin Order built at the beginning of the 17th century was used by the Brothers of the Christian Schools and their students. At the beginning of the 20th century, the Brothers were expelled because of secular laws. In 1907, secular priests, teachers of the Petit Séminaire de Tréguier confiscated by the State, came to settle in the vacant premises of Lannion. The new institution became the Saint-Joseph Institution and prospered. The existing chapel was too small. A local architect, James Bouillé, who had settled in Perros-Guirec and had been a member of the Seiz Breur since 1928 and who, with Xavier de Langlais, founded the Atelier breton d'art chrétien in 1929\. They will be able to work much more freely than in a parish church, without the pressure of public opinion.
