Located in the town of Mellac, 6 km from the village, on the old road formerly used by the pilgrims of Santiago de Compostela and Tro Breizh, this chapel was built at the end of the 15th century on the site of a leper house managed by the city of Quimperlé.

The chapel, probably linked to a maladrerie or leper house, is located near a Roman road and an old pilgrimage road (Tro-Breizh) frequented since the 15th century. The village of "la Magdelaine" is mentioned in 1667, 1683 and 1732.
