Château de Nuits
42 rue du Maréchal Leclerc, 89390 Nuits-sur-Armançon
- Yonne
- Bourgogne-Franche-Comté
Combining with charm and elegance the finery of a pleasure residence with the defensive necessities of a fortress, interesting volumes with a subtle decoration... The castle of Nuits-sur-Armançon is a fine example of the Renaissance castles. Aptly oriented towards the Armançon, the facade, with its powerful projecting pavilions recalls the military side of the building: indeed, the Armançon represented the border between Burgundy and Champagne. The western facade plays refinement and elegance with its pilasters and pediments. When entering the castle, the same distinction can be made: thus the kitchens to the east keep an internal well to hold the seat, while one discovers on the floor elegant and sober rooms, living rooms and apartments. The men who made the history of this castle remain present throughout all that they left there.
