Exhibition Charles Belle, natures vives
After the creative residency of Yan Pei-Ming in 2019, the Courbet Pole chose the country’s child, Charles Belle, to invest the workshop of Gustave Courbet in Ornans, newly restored. At the heart of this unique place, steeped in traces of the past, the exhibition Charles Belle, natures vives establishes a sensitive companionship with the art of the Ornans master and his workspace. Through his work, monumental drawings and paintings, Charles Belle transcribes nature through a lively and vibrant material, expressive by gesture, sensual. The artist meets Courbet here in the same lyrical exaltation of painting. Drawing a bridge between the Atelier and the museum, two sites of the museum pole, Charles Belle is also invited to appear in the exhibition Ceux de la Terre. The figure of the peasant, from Courbet to Van Gogh at the Courbet museum.
